Psychosocial assessment before donor treatment

According to Swedish law, a psychosocial assessment with a psychologist is required when treatment with donated gametes (eggs and/or sperm) is planned. The assessment usually involves one or two sessions before the fertility treatment can begin. This process is called a psychosocial assessment or psychosocial evaluation.

The purpose of these sessions is to ensure that the well-being of both the intended parents and the future child is carefully considered. Our psychologist will always meet you with respect and empathy, with clear information about the purpose of the evaluation as a central part of the process.

The assessment is carried out from a clear child-centered perspective. This means that the child’s safety and well-being are always in focus, in accordance with Article 3 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which states that the best interests of the child must always come first.
