Ovulation induction
We offer ovulation stimulation, also know as ovulation inducation (OI), for those experiencing irregular or absent ovulation. Through treatments such as oral medication or hormone injections, we stimulate ovulation to increase the chances of pregnancy. During the treatment, ultrasound examinations are performed to ensure optimal results. Our goal is to create the ideal environment for egg maturation and fertilization.
One of the prerequisites for a successful pregnancy is that the egg matures and ovulation occurs. If a woman experiences absent or irregular ovulation, ovulation can be stimulated through tablets or hormone injections. The principle behind ovulation induction is to stimulate ovulation by using hormone medications to stimulate the ovaries to produce a follicle and a mature egg per cycle, which can be fertilized through intercourse. Through this stimulation, the chances increase for the couple to achieve pregnancy on their own. The treatment can be repeated several times to increase your chances of becoming pregnant. If pregnancy is not achieved despite treatment, IVF is a possible next step in your treatment.
Treatment with oral medications is often quite simple: tablets are typically taken at the beginning of the cycle for five days. The progression of the ovulation treatment is monitored with ultrasound as planned by the doctor. It is important to have intercourse at the time of ovulation. A urine test (LH test, available at pharmacies) or an ultrasound examination can be used to help time this.
